Thirteen Things We Learned from 4.06 “Bag of Cobras”

“Bag of Cobras” just sounds like a bad idea, from the word “go,” doesn’t it? And with The Hollow running around, I’m never quite sure what’s literal, and what isn’t.

1.  The number 4 seems significant. Vincent tells us that whenever there are violent rituals – that have The Hollow written all over them – there seem to be four locations every time. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern to the number of years between each event, but that FOUR seems very significant. Vincent even mentions a few of the area’s most famous horrors: The Ax Man, Madam LaLaurie (a bit on them later . . . )

2.  Fake party, fake truce, and the best laid plans . . . .

3.   Josh still has all the best lines.

4.  Those thorns that sprouted from Marcel’s blood . . . make nice jewelry for female psychopaths named Sofya. Or should I say “mercenary that works for the highest bidder,” according to Marcel. He vows there’s nothing between them besides business. Um. Yeah. Sure.

5.  Papa Tunde’s blade is still in play. Klaus has it now. And he doesn’t threaten Marcel with it, as one might expect him to do. He threatens Marcel’s friends. Josh. The wearer of the deadly bracelet, Sofya.

6. Visiting the site of a brutal murder sounds like a great time for these two . . . I mean, seriously.  Just the goosebumps I got from them shining flashlights around the place was enough for me to go “this is a bad idea, girls!” But it got them a clue, no matter how brutal the memories were.

7.  “Extra Room. Mini Storage.” Those words were never haunting to me, until now. Hayley finds a jawbone inside one of her old teddy bears that her parents hid in the storage unit that this key goes to. We think it may be one of the 4 things The Hollow needs to be reborn. Elijah, Hayley, and Klaus realize that there must be 3 more bones hidden around the city . . . and that Dominic probably knew where they were (all but the one Hayley has, of course). But, Elijah made a pretty big showing of ripping Dominic’s heart out at the fake party, so he ain’t telling where they are! But, Dominic isn’t as dead as we thought, either. The Hollow’s followers brought him back. AND he now has Tunde’s blade.

8. The image of the Oroborous is not the only image of a snake that The Hollow seems interested in. All of the tarot cards that Vincent pulls after reading the energy of all the guests that the fake party, include snakes as well. He surmises that the person he finds in the company of snakes will be the agent of The Hollow. My question is this: Do we really think someone is going to have a gigantic snake wrapped around them like Britney at the VMAs or Voldemort? Guys, I think this might be a metaphorical snake.

9. GOTCHA!

But, that’s only HALF the duo, Vincent!!

10. This dress. Is the dress that could sink a Mikaelson?

11.  Vincent’s ancestors were, apparently, the only thing holding The Hollow back from the physical world. So, when we surmised that Vincent’s severing of the Ancestor’s power over the NOLA witches had something to do with The Hollow’s return . . . we were right. Severing that bond, released the magic holding The Hollow back. And the revelation of this fact turns into a physical altercation, and then a magical one between Dominic and Vincent – with Elijah in the middle.

12. Vincent is only in this battle to save the children, he’s done with all Mikaelson dealings after The Hollow is gone. And he will never forgive Freya for what happened to Davina.

13. The Hollow is after Vincent. Not for his power, but for turning his back on The Hollow back when his wife was in tune with it. Its personal. Wanting Marcel is business, it needs his power. “Vincent now. Marcel later.” Elijah proves just how far he will go to protect his family. Dominic learns that the hard way.

BONUS: Freya is SUPER JEALOUS that Keelin is having fun without her . . .

And remember when I said The Hollow is sexy?  Sofya with that bracelet, in that dress . . . yeah, sexy!

And we FINALLY found out why Sofya hates Klaus so much. And all he had to do to find out why, was ask.  500 years ago, Sofya left her sister’s wedding feast to get wine. When she came back, Klaus was feeding on her sister, having slaughtered the entire family. So, there’s the reason she wants revenge on the Mikaelsons, especially Klaus.

We also learned that Sandalwood incense usually means that something, or someone, is cloaked. Josh tells Sofya this when she invades his apartment – yet again – without knocking. He admits to her that he had found his way to the dungeon, through a secret door. He found the dungeon, but no Marcel. However, with the scent of Sandalwood in the air . . . he suspects that’s where Marcel is hidden.

So, we have a jawbone. Is Tunde’s blade one of the 4 bones? It definitely has significance. And it wouldn’t be the first time that something needed for a spell was hidden in plain sight! Remember the little soldier that Klaus carved Rebekah when they were children, that Hope had as a toy . . . which was made from the White Oak? Hidden in plain sight is often the way to go!

Let’s see what we kind find out in 4.07 “High Water and a Devil’s Daughter!”
