The Originals 2.07 “Chasing the Devil’s Tail” Recap {SPOILERS}

originals-recap-206-3

So, who’s worried about Dahlia?  Show of hands?

Yeah, with that last little revelation at the end of last week’s episode, I admit to being a little worried about the “Return of Dahlia” seeing as she’s more powerful that Esther, and probably a little pissed off.

But, of course, they think little Baby Hope was killed so that Dahlia wouldn’t return for the first born child of this generation.  So, they aren’t going to see her coming.  Or will they?  Or will they be blindsided?  Or . . . will we get no answers to this story line in this episode, because we’ll be busy finding out JUST WHAT LENORSTHER DID TO ELIJAH’S BRAIN!!!  Because that’s important, as well.  If not more so.  Because, while seeing him tied up took me to Fifty Shades/fanfiction places in my brain . . . I miss Mr Awesome Scruff on my telly!  You know, actually talking.  Not dream talking.  Or dream making out with Hayley.  (Which was AMAZING, but sadly NOT REAL.)

Anyhow, let’s get to it, shall we?  Hold my hand, cuz here we go!

originals-recap-206-47

Klaus starts us off by reminding us that his Momma is back, in the form of Lenorsther, and that she’s out to “cleanse” the family of this vampire curse and give them all a new start.  Then Koleb and Davina talking outside after Mikael ran off like a little coward – she’s got the White Oak Stake, and she’s going to use it on Klaus, and he’s going to help her – her words.  Then a bloodied Oliver telling Jackson that he’s the Alpha, he can free the wolves of their slavery by the witches.  And then . . . Oliver’s unfortunate Ebola-looking death.  (WE MISS YOU OLLIE!!  Those of us that don’t still hate you for killing Eve . . .)  Lenorsther tells Chained Awesome Scruff that she wants to give him freedom from his vampire curse, by placing him in the body of a witch – like she’s done with Kol and Finn – so that the family can be happy again. (Yeah, right. THAT will solve everything. *rolls eyes*) Then we see Klaus confronted with Ansel, his long-thought-to-be-dead Father and then Lenorsther explaining that she brought him back before The Other Side collapsed so that Klaus could have the relationship that he deserved with a father that loves him.  Klaus then lays Elijah on a bed at the compound, while Lenorsther explains that he’s still sleeping, and that when he wakes he’ll be able to make his own decision about her offer.

originals-recap-207

FLASHBACKVILLE:  Young Klaus is running through the woods, Elijah in hot pursuit.  Elijah teases Klaus that he’s getting faster, but not fast enough . . . and then whoosh, Klaus is gone.  Elijah steps out into a small clearing and calls for him.  And then, in a weird twist, Grown Elijah is standing, suited but bloody, in front of Young Elijah.  Thunder claps, and its really kinda creepy.  Mr Awesome Scruff greets Young Doesn’t Have Scruff Yet, and tells the younger that “one day, only a monster will remain” and the elder’s face vamps out.  Young Doesn’t Have Scruff Yet attacks Mr Awesome Scruff with an axe.

originals-recap-207-2

And we realize that Elijah is still dreaming.  Klaus begins to speak to him, and his words have this odd, echo-y quality about them.

Elijah is still fighting himself, as Klaus says “I know you are locked in battle.”  Klaus begs Elijah to hear his voice over whatever their mother is making him see.  (Young Elijah has run off in the vision)  Klaus continues to whisper to Elijah that Lenorsther thinks she’s won, because she’s left Elijah alone in this state.  As Elijah jerks and sweats, Klaus assures him that he is not alone.

In fact, here’s the clip, because I just can’t do the power of this scene justice. AT. ALL.

See?   Was that not just ripping your heart out?  (Oh, the PUNNY!!!)  Like, for real!!

As Klaus lurches away from Elijah’s prone body, he turns and runs into Hayley.  Hayley’s alarmed at the nose bleed Klaus has gotten and wonders what he’s been up to.  He explains that he was trying to enter Elijah’s thoughts to help him to wake, but Lenorsther has found a away to lock him out.

originals-recap-207-3

Hayley notices a rash on the side/back of Elijah’s neck and asks Klaus if this is some side effect of the sleeping.  Klaus says that he hasn’t seen this since he was a child.  Its a result of the use of the petals of a rare Marelock Orchid, that she would use to put him to sleep to help him heal from Mikael’s wounds, using the roots of the same plant to wake him.  He surmises that she must have access to that plant now, somewhere in the Bayou perhaps.  He tells Hayley to stay with the wolves “in the fort” and he goes to leave.  She protests that she’d rather go out and rip Lenorsther’s head off, but Klaus warns her, again, to stay clear of Lenorsther.  He means it.  He asks her what if Elijah wakes only to find Hayley somehow in Lenorsther’s thrall.  She promises she won’t go after her, and Klaus takes her at her word and leaves.

originals-recap-207-4

Hayley turns to Elijah and tells him that she’s learned a thing or two from his mother.  She says that, sure, she won’t got after Lenorsther, but she’ll “go after everything that she loves.”  (Um, doesn’t that include Elijah?)

And, after that declaration . . . who’s worried Hayley’s going to bite off more than she can chew?  (I’m just full of puns this go ’round!)

originals-recap-207-5

We come back to what looks as if its about to be a werewolf funeral for Oliver.  *sniff*  Jackson touches Oliver’s face, then covers him with the cloth he’s swaddled in.  Then, he starts throwing alcohol over the body.  Jackson takes a swig and then POOF, he’s pushing a canoe laden with Ollie’s body and some greenery out into the River.  (He has some super powers to do all that so quickly, cuz Ollie was on the ground 2 seconds ago!)  As Ollie’s canoe drifts, the music is just amazing here, Jackson watches as it bursts into flame.  A visibly upset Jackson looks on.

originals-recap-207-6

As the sun lightens the sky, Ollie’s smoking canoe is still drifting down river.  And Jackson is still watching.  And drinking.  Hayley walks up behind him, shaking her head.  She tells Jack (I totally think he’s a JackSON, not a Jack, but….) that she’s sorry that this happened.  And Jackson is pissed.  Apparently, “Crescent tradition” states that a funeral should be held at dawn, and no one showed.  Including her.  He says the loyalty of the pack is gone.  She says he shouldn’t be moping, there’s a war to fight.  She realizes he’s got to grieve, but their people need their Alpha.  She takes the bottle from him and walks away.  He sniffs and, almost but not quite rolls his eyes.

originals-recap-207-7

Marcel asks “Where’s your Alpha?” when Hayley comes in with Aiden, instead of Jackson.  And Marcel calls him “Junior Varsity” which is hilarious.  He complains that his place is getting used as “a den for wayward wolves” and Hayley says that they were just on their way to take down Finncent today, and she thought that since Finncent treated his vampires pretty badly Marcel’d want in on it.  Marcel decides that he’s listening instead of complaining, and Aiden tells them both that it won’t be an easy thing.  Finncent has surrounded himself with “a pack of juiced-up wolves” and there’s not a weakness to be found.  Marcel counters that he’s got Finncent’s weakness on speed dial – Cami.  Hayley says that Klaus will go ballistic if they get Cami wrapped up in this.  Marcel says that Klaus isn’t here, and they’d better not try to tell her that she can’t do something, cuz that won’t go well – and Hayley should understand that (Hayley smirks) – and Marcel calls Cami.

originals-recap-207-8

And, speak of the devil and his “weakness,” it seems Cami and Finncent are in a session.  She’s telling Finncent that “he” (Klaus?) hasn’t called her, that she thinks he’s trying to protect her, which she doesn’t want.  She says that she doesn’t think she wants to be around “him” anymore, and Finncent calls this progress.  But she’s got something more on her mind.  She wants a new advisor.  He goes on the defensive,  wondering if she’s not finding their sessions productive.  She lays it on SUPER thick, and says that she wants to get to know him better with a little batting of her lashes and a little tongue-on-the-lip action.  She claims to be embarrassed, runs out, and before she’s completely gone Finncent gets up, calls her “Camile” and asks her if she likes jazz.  She smiles and nods.

originals-recap-207-9

Davina is chanting into a broken mirror and as she chants, the mirror begins to repair itself.  Koleb walks up behind her, watches for a second, and then startles her by asking if she’s still at it.  The mirror shatters again.  She’s angry because she’s trying to repair the damage he did to her unlinking spell.  He looks down at the White Oak Stake sitting on the counter of their hotel room.  She says she’s only staying there, with him, for his “freaking witch encyclopedia brain.”  Koleb says that she needs to sleep, she’s been awake for days.  Davina says that its kinda hard to sleep when there’s “a 1,000-year-old psycho” in the next bed.  He turns it into a joke, and she gets all “don’t call me darling” and don’t flirt with me (when you can tell she really enjoys it, but can’t get past the Kol part of Koleb) and tells him to button his shirt (essentially).

originals-recap-207-10

Um. No! Don’t do that!!  But he does it anyway, saying that most girls like it, but she’s not most girls.  She wants him to stop messing around.  He admits he’s been trying to charm her, that her resistance is pretty impressive, and he knows they can do big things but they have to trust each other first.  She says she doesn’t care about his secrets and stumbles over what to call him.  Koleb says to call him Kol, and that if she wants to do this unlinking thing, she really needs to listen to him.  And then he falls to his knees in pain.  Letters are appearing in the flesh of his forearm, and when Davina asks what they are, he says its “Mother Dearest” calling him back to her.

originals-recap-207-11

Lenorsther is meditating over an altar with the same symbols drawn in front of her in salt, when Finncent walks in.  He teases that she knows how to leave a message, and she says that she wishes all of her children were as respectful as he is.  She says that Kol will come home soon, and that Elijah will wake believing that he wants to rejoin the family, and its time that he bring Cami in.  She hands him something that will “subdue” her without hurting her, and he seems upset that he doesn’t have more time.  Lenorsther says that Klaus will be influenced by his Father (Ansel) and then they will need to act quickly after that.  Finncent puts aside his mother’s charm and tells her that he doesn’t need it, he can bring Cami in on his own.

originals-recap-207-12

Klaus is walking in the woods (perhaps near the Bayou) and someone is watching him, gripping a large knife.  Klaus can hear them, and turns the tables by throwing Ansel against a tree and telling him to stop following him.

Annnnnnnd COMMERCIALS!

With his hand at his Father’s throat, Klaus tells Ansel that he has no intention of taking Esther’s bargain, he doesn’t want to be mortal, and Ansel should “piss off” because he’s in a hurry to help his “real family.”  Ansel tells Klaus that he knows he’s looking for the Marelock Orchid, and Klaus wants to know how Ansel knows this. Ansel admits he saw Klaus carry Elijah home, and that he was the one that always found the Orchid for Esther when she was using it to put Mikael to sleep and offers his help.  Klaus refuses his help in a very Klaus-like way (more “piss off” really) and Ansel calls him out on storming off “in a fit of stubbornness” but suggests that he do so in a Westerly direction.  Klaus glares over his shoulder at Ansel.

originals-recap-207-13

Davina is driving Koleb’s car with classical music on the radio.  Looking down at the wounds on his arm, he changes the station with a flick of his hand.  Davina reaches down and just turns off the radio completely.  He asks if she’s ever had any fun with magic, and she asks if he was a witch before he was a vampire. He says that he was, and that he was the first of the Mikaelson children to come into his powers and that he loved the power.  He says that when they were turned, he “went through a bit of a dark period.”  He says that he was always a thrill seeker and he couldn’t get a thrill from magic anymore (because you can’t be both a vampire and a witch, remember?) so he looked for thrills in other places.  “Murder, mayhem,” she says. “Youthful misadventures” he counters.  He says that he spent a good deal of time among witches, teaching them, and trying to get his magic back.  Davina asks if that’s why Esther brought him back as a witch.  He chooses honesty, saying that Esther thought this body would be the best to use to spy on her.  Davina says that she can’t believe that Esther sent him to flirt with her.  He says that, no, he was sent to follow her, the flirting was all him.  She smiles a little, he looks down at his arm again, and turns the radio back on to the classical station with another flick of his wrist.

originals-recap-207-14

Aiden unrolls a blueprint and says that Cami told him Finncent wants to meet her at “Preservation Hall” but he won’t be there unprotected.  Josh is there, looking at the blueprint, too, as Aiden points out where the protection detail will be staked out. (Ha! Another pun!!!)  Marcel points to an alley and asks if there’s a way to keep it open, and Hayley offers to separate Finncent’s head from his body.  Marcel discourages this, saying that Finncent would just body jump as Cami walks in and insists that Finncent’s head stays on.  She dumps a box on the table, saying that Finncent will have a hard time answering their questions without it.  And Josh always has the best lines:  “Sweet. It’s a big box of dusty old junk.  We’re saved.”

originals-recap-207-15

Aiden is amused, Cami is not. Cami explains that the items in the box a “dark objects” that Father Kieran left her.  She says the ones she’s brought can be used against witches, specifically.  As Marcel pulls some old shackles from the box (Hayley says “kinky”) he says that he remembers them.  He says that 100 years ago The Faction used them in a war against the Voodoo Queens. He says they had a trader put a spell on them, and a witch can’t do magic as long as they’re on.  Josh says there’s no way to get the “handcuffs of doom” on Finncent while he’s surrounded by werewolves.  Aiden says he can lure them away.  Hayley checks that Cami knows she’s the bait in all this and asks if she’s really ok with that.  Cami dodges the question, and tells them to make it look convincing because Finncent is smart.

originals-recap-207-16

Klaus is bumbling through the woods with Ansel on his heels.  Ansel is surprised that after 1,000 years, Klaus doesn’t want to talk to him.  Surely Klaus has questions.  Klaus stops and says he has just one.  He wants to know if there’s a way to cure Elijah without having to listen to Ansel’s “pointless ramblings.”  Ansel says the price of his help is conversation.  Klaus says that he told himself his real father must not have known he existed because there’s no way he would have left him to suffer Mikael.  Ansel says that Esther forbade it.  He says he waited, knowing that Klaus would trigger the werewolf curse and need him when he changed.  He says Mikael found him first, but that he fought Mikael for Klaus. Klaus says (essentially) too little, too late, but Ansel interrupts saying he knows Klaus has always had something missing in his life.  Ansel says he’s been watching Klaus from The Other Side since his death, seen all the places he’s been, and things he’s done, but he knows Klaus has never found peace.  Klaus is rendered speechless.  Ansel says that the only times Klaus has felt joy have been in simple things and lists a few of those things.  It gets to be too much, and Klaus orders Ansel to stop.  He asks if Ansel saw all the bad things he’s done, “because – lets face it – I have a tendency to play with my food.”  He asks if he’s made Ansel proud and sneers the word “Father” at him. When Ansel doesn’t answer, Klaus pushes his way past him. Ansel follows a second later.

originals-recap-207-17

Koleb walks in, telling Lenorsther that he needs to teach her how to send a text message.  She says that he was supposed to retrieve the Stake days ago, because they need it now “seeing as your father has risen.”  Which gives Koleb pause.  He looks up, and tries to play innocent.  Lenorsther knows that he kept this from her, and is not pleased.  She asks why he didn’t tell her – was it to protect Davina?  No, he says, it was to protect her plan.  He has to make her trust him and Davina’s never going to if she thinks he’s just “a flying monkey to the wicked witch.”  He tells Mommy Dearest that he’s got things under control.  She looks concerned, but doesn’t speak.  The letters/wounds on his arm begin to fade as she snuffs a candle.  She tells him she wants the Stake and doesn’t care what he has to do to get it.  She storms off and leaves Koleb standing in her wake.  He picks up a knife from the table and looks it over.

Again with the commercials?  Can’t the CW pay it’s bills some other way?! UGH!

originals-recap-207-18

Klaus is now following Ansel toward a large tree.  Buuuuuuuuuut, there’s Vervain all around it.  Ansel says he’ll get the Marelock for him, since Vervain doesn’t effect him.  Klaus asks him what that’ll cost him.  Ansel throws down his knife in frustration.  He tells Klaus to search his mind, he’s not being controlled – or even allied with – Esther.  Klaus says he doesn’t care what the old man has in his head.  Ansel calls him a coward, says that Klaus is standing here, fearing him, while Elijah continues to suffer.  Looking upset, Klaus commands his father gather the flowers and turns away.

originals-recap-207-19

Koleb is in the cemetery, holding the knife he took from the table at his mother’s.  Davina walks up, asking what Esther wanted from him.  He tells her that Mother wants him to take the Stake from her so she can’t kill Klaus.  Davina asks if that’s why he asked her to meet him.  He protests that he’s not Esther’s puppet, that he wants something else.  He wants her blood.  But, no, not by force. He’s asking nicely. She resists, because he won’t give her a reason.  He launches into a story.  A hundred years ago, the tomb they’re standing by was his “playhouse.”  He says that the witches he hung out with would do all kinds of magic there, until he pissed one of them off.  (The prettiest one, he says)  And he can’t get back in without her blood, because the witch he pissed off was Mary-Alice Claire and only a Claire witch can reopen it.  He hands her the knife and she considers.

originals-recap-207-20

The next second, they appear to be inside.  There’s more stuff there than in Cami’s Room of Requirement!  Davina asks him where all the stuff came from, and he says that he was a vampire, he could get whatever he wanted.  But he couldn’t practice Witchcraft so he used his charms to make friends of some witches and taught them a “new kind” of magic that he learned in Arabia, called Kemiya.  Kemiya allowed him to use magical items without actually doing it.  Davina surmises, as he pulls a small chest from a shelf, that he taught them how to make Dark Objects. He says that these items used to be all over the city – doesn’t know where they are now (Cami’s Room of Requirement) – but he’s still got the one that matters.  Davina asks him what it is, but he says that what it is isn’t as important as what it could be.  He asks if she still wants to take down Klaus – she nods – and then he pulls one of the daggers Klaus always uses on his siblings saying that he wants to plunge it into Klaus’s heart like Klaus has done to him so very many times.  Davina says that those daggers won’t work on Klaus – Koleb agrees – and he says that they can fix it so this one will if they work together and trust each other.  Koleb says that if they put Klaus in a box, he won’t be entirely dead, and therefore her friends will be safe.  He asks her if she’s in, and she looks up at him.

originals-recap-207-21

Down in the Quarter, at Preservation Hall, jazz music is playing live.  Cami’s enjoying the music and Finncent walks up behind her with a drink.  She says the music is amazing, and he tells her he started liking it when he moved here.  He takes a sip of his beer and makes a bit of a face.  She teases him that he still doesn’t like beer much, that she decided to like it just because her mother said it wasn’t “lady like.”  She asks if he’s close to either of his parents, and he admits he’s close to his mother because she made so many sacrifices for them as kids and anything she asks seems little compared to all that.  Cami’s phone rings (she’d never be able to hear it, in the real world) and she claims its a friend covering her shift at Rousseu’s and she needs to answer it.  He watches her go through the crowd away from the noise, looks back at the band playing, and when he looks back again for her, she’s gone.

originals-recap-207-22

Finncent decides to follow her outside, just in time to hear her screaming as a hoodie-wearing wolf tears into her neck.  The hooded figure looks up, his eyes glow, and then he runs off.  (Pretty sure that was Aiden.)  Finncent runs up to Cami as the wolf climbs the fire escape to the roof and away.  As Cami lays on the sidewalk, bleeding, another hooded wolf (Hayley?) whistles to him and her eyes glow as she turns away.  When he looks back at Cami, she’s gone again.  Puzzled, he walks around in a little circle.

originals-recap-207-23

Ansel is cutting up the Orchids he’s collected, by the light of a fire, and Klaus says that he’s seen blades used for very different (less delicate) things.  Ansel says that Mikael taught Klaus to kill, but he wasn’t born for that.  He was born to create.  Ansel says that power lies in Klaus’s true nature as a wolf.  Klaus thinks Ansel wants him to take Esther’s offer and give up his vampire side.  “Then what? Become a florist?”  Ansel laughs and says he wouldn’t be giving anything up, he’d be the king to an entire species, he’d find true peace, and even be a better father.  Klaus corrects him, saying he’s no longer a father and starts to walk away again.  Ansel explains that as a wolf, they feel everything even more actuely. He’d wake closer to Klaus’s village after ever full moon, as if he was drawn to his son.  He says since he’s come back from The Other Side, when he changes with the moon, he wakes further and further from New Orleans. (HE KNOWS!!!!)  Ansel says he knows some of his own blood is calling to him from further away.  (Yep! HE KNOWS!!!!)  Ansel says he knows that the baby isn’t dead.

Dang it!  MORE COMMERCIALS!!

originals-recap-207-24

Finncent is on the phone – yelling – wanting to know who bit Cami and saying he’ll find out one way or another.  He’s on the phone with Aiden. Finncent says he’ll know where Cami is shortly – he’s working on a locator spell – and demands that Aiden meet him there once he does.  He tells Aiden to come alone, because Aiden’s wolves can’t be trusted, and hangs up.

originals-recap-207-25

Aiden hangs up, too, and tells Josh and Hayley that Finncent bought it and will be here soon (St Anne’s) without hie entourage.  Cami makes some snark about having a woman noshing on her neck being more erotic – ok, so it was Hayley that bit her – and Hayley bites her wrist to give Cami some of her blood to heal.  Hayley then tells the boys to turn off all the lights.  As Aiden snuffs some candles, Aiden jokes that they’re “so going to Hell for this.”  Josh jokes back that you get used to the idea.  Josh says that he knows Aiden would rather be somewhere else on a Friday night, and Aiden smiles and says that it isn’t as bad as all that.

originals-recap-207-26

Cami wants to go over the plan again.  Hayley tells her that Aiden is going to get Finncent to the altar, and then she’s gonna jump him.  She says that since he’s powerful, they’ll only have a few seconds to get the shackles on him.  Cami asks where Marcel is.  Marcel’s off looking for Davina, because he’s heard she’s back in town.  “Overprotective Dad stuff?” Cami asks, and Hayley replies that, sure, if that’s what you call ripping Koleb into a thousand pieces.

originals-recap-207-27

Koleb snaps and music starts to play.  He then begins to explain that the Hunters that made these daggers didn’t know that Klaus was part werewolf and not vulnerable to silver.  It isn’t possible to replicate the spell cast on the dagger, but it isn’t so to change the dagger itself.  Kemiya, he says, allows witches to destroy something to create something else.  And Davina guesses that he’s been hanging out with her, because he’s not powerful enough to do this on his own.  No, he says, Kemiya is about chemistry/connection and he says that after what they did with the Stake, she can’t deny that they have that.  He asks her to take his hand – there’s a giant diamond in it (he calls it a paragram diamond, used to conduct power) – and Davina asks if hand-holding is really necessary.  He jokes that they could make out instead, but that would be distracting.  She sighs, and grabs his hand.  In his other hand he’s holding some sort of rope and tells her to follow his lead.  She grabs the other end of the rope and he tells her to close her eyes.  They chant, and as his hand slides up her arm, the rope bursts into flame.  There’s a second when you think they might kiss, but then Davina burns herself and the spell is broken.  (Hahahaha. Did it again!)  The rope is now a silver chain, which he wraps around Davina’s wrist to replace the one he broke (that kept Mikael bound to her).  Davina’s amazed that they changed it, and Koleb tells her that they can “change everything.”

originals-recap-207-28

Ansel stabs his machete into the ground and gets up, folding the Orchid stuffs into a piece of cloth.  As he goes to walk back to his spot, Klaus stops him.  Klaus says that he’d be lying if he said Ansel’s offer wasn’t appealing, he’s not known the kindness of a parent before, and he thinks he might’ve enjoyed being his son.  Klaus says that a different path was chosen for him, and for the past 1,000 years he has been “son of Mikael – paranoid, vengeful, and powerful enough to protect my daughter.”  Ansel says he wants to help defend Hope, and Klaus says that he believes him, but Esther twists love and she’ll take his good intentions and turn them into something else to get to Hope, to hurt her.  He takes Ansel’s hand in his, and tells him that he waited too long to come and rescue him and he won’t make that mistake with Hope.

originals-recap-207-29

Klaus picks up Ansel’s machete.  Ansel says “no” a couple of times and says that Klaus isn’t capable of this.  Both men have tears in their eyes as Klaus says that was the first lie Ansel’s told him, and strikes.  Klaus slashes his father from one shoulder to the opposite hip, and then looks as horrified as Ansel as Ansel collapses into Klaus’s arms.  Klaus lays his father down, cries a couple (literally) tears, and then sets his jaw against the pain of what he’s just done.

This time I’m grateful for the commercials.  I needed a tissue.  Had something in my eye.

originals-recap-207-30

Davina says that its late, she should leave.  Koleb asks if she’s eager to get back to Marcel.  She doesn’t say either way, but says that she lied to Marcel about Koleb, and she’ll probably go back to the attic.  He teases her that she’s voluntarily going back to her cell.  Koleb says she must’ve been lonely up there, that a witch needs a coven – even a coven of two.  She wants to know when they can work on the dagger.  He tells her that have to work on their trust things first.  He says that she’s going to like him, and he’s going to let her pretend for a while that she doesn’t already as he covers her with his jacket.

originals-recap-207-31

Aiden tells Finncent that he thinks a few of Oliver’s friends wanted to avenge his death.  Finncent asks after Cami, and Aiden says she’s tied up by the altar.  Aiden says that Finncent should rescue Cami, he’ll take care of the wolves.  Finncent stops Aiden, asking if his younger brother was one of the recruits that Oliver rescued.  Aiden doesn’t get to answer, before he’s flung (rather floppy-headedly) into the church through the front doors.  Josh whooshes to Aiden’s side as Finncent saunters in.

originals-recap-207-32

Finncent decides the place needs more light, thunder claps, and all the candles burn high as Josh makes his “oh shit” face.  With just a twitch of his fingers, Finncent snaps Josh’s neck and begins yelling for Camile.  Hayley tackles Finncent to the floor, saying she’s going to kick his ass and then take her pack back.  Finncent says her pack is blindly following him.  Hayley asks if he wants to talk about following, she wants to know how his mother’s boots taste and kicks him in the face.  He asks her what she’s done with Cami and before she can answer he’s flipped his fingers and she’s landed on her back on the floor.  He tells her that hybrids die when you remove their heads or their hearts, and he’s going to remove the organ that got her here in the first place and starts to chant.

originals-recap-207-33

Hayley’s chest starts to bleed and she starts to cough up blood. And an arrow gets shot through Finncent’s shoulder, breaking his concentration. Jackson jumps down from the balcony, Ansel’s bow and arrows in hand, and sends another arrow through Finncent.  And Cami snaps the shackles around Finncent’s wrists.  He tries to lash out with magic, but it doesn’t work.  “You would’ve done the same to me, Finn,” she says and he realizes what’s happened.  Jackson runs to Hayley and apologizes for being late.  She tells him his timing was “pretty awesome, actually” and they chuckle.

Klaus walks back into the room where Mr Twitch A Lot lays (that would be Elijah) and places some of the paste that Ansel made on the rash on Elijah’s neck.  He tells Elijah that they were innocent once and his voice echos into Elijah’s dreams.  We see a flash of Young Elijah stumbling through the forest as Klaus applies more paste in the present.  Klaus tells Elijah that this bloodlust they carry was forced on them by their parents, changing them.  His last few words echo again, and the Suited One is standing (still bloody) in front of Young Elijah again as thunder claps.  Young Elijah looks up to Bloody Elijah and Bloody Elijah kneels down to Young Elijah’s level.  But it isn’t Elijah anymore.  It’s present-day Klaus.  He tells Young Elijah that they are the demons in the shadows, they are the villains in the fairy tales, but they aren’t that for Baby Hope.  “In her story,” he says, “we are the knights in shining armor.”  Klaus tells Elijah he doesn’t think he can survive his love for his daughter without Elijah with him.  He tells Elijah he needs him.  “The monster in me can only be checked by the monster in you,” he tells both Young and Present-Day Elijah.  He says that they can stand, together, and fight to save their family.  He hands Young Elijah a stake, Young Elijah looks down at it, and then up again, to find Klaus gone and Bloody Elijah standing before him.  Bloody Elijah heads toward Young Elijah and Young Elijah strikes with the stake and Elijah wakes with a start.

And these are the last commercials…..can we survive them???

Hayley tells Jackson that Finncent is in the back of Josh’s car.  Jackson asks after Aiden, and Hayley says he’ll be fine after some Bourbon. Hayley asks how he knew where to find everyone.  Jackson says he had a lot of practice tracking her when he followed her as a wolf.  She asks what he means, and he says that Ollie used to give him Hell for waiting on her to come back.  He says their parents had been sure that they, together, could change everything.  She tells him that the girl he was waiting on, Andrea Labonair, Mythic Revolutionary, but he’s got Hayley Marshall “a knocked up tomboy with a bad attitude.”  Jackson says that she’s right, she’s not the girl he was waiting for, she’s better.  (*gag* SORRY!!!  I’m a Haylijah fan!!!!)

Upstairs, Klaus returns to Elijah’s room to find Elijah dressing in his usual shirt and tie.  Elijah asks Klaus what’s wrong, and Klaus tells him of spending the day with his real father.  He explains that Esther brought him back to try and get him to give up being a vamp.  Klaus wonders what he would have been like had he been raised by Ansel instead of Mikael – nutured and loved instead of hated.  Klaus hands Elijah a bound volume of some sort, saying it was Ansel’s.

Elijah opens it, and inside there are sketches of them as children inside.  Klaus tells Elijah that Ansel knew about Hope (this gets Elijah back to his feet in a hurry) and that he tried to trust him.  He wanted to trust him.  Klaus says that he couldn’t be sure, and he would never have been able to live with himself if keeping Ansel around lead to Hope being harmed.  Klaus confesses that he killed Ansel.  Elijah looks horrified.  “You killed him for Hope,” Elijah states simply. “Whatever innocence remains we must protect at any cost.”

Lenorsther walks into the place where she had Elijah held.  She turns to see Ansel’s body up on a pike like Mikael left him all those years ago.  She slides down the side of the crypt to the ground, sobbing.

Koleb carries a sleeping Davina to her bed in the attic.  When he lays her down, the Stake slides a little bit out of her bag.  He looks at it a good long while and Marcel appears in the doorway behind him.

Elijah has his suit completely back on, straightening his tie in the mirror.  He looks down at his hands, and is clearly battling what his mother showed him while he was sleeping.  Holding his head in his hand, he remembers that it was him that killed Tatia and his mother taking her behind the red door.

Davina wakes, and sees the bracelet she and Koleb created on her wrist.  She smiles and then realizes the Stake is gone.  She panics (and we know she’s blaming Koleb, when I think Marcel is the one that took it) and looks like someone just killed her puppy.

Cami is at the bar, drinking, and someone barges in.  She tells them “we’re closed” but its Lenorsther and she says that’s too bad, she’d heard that they serve a good sazerac here and asks if her name is Camile.  She approaches Cami as realization dawns on Cami and she tries to back away.  Lenorsther starts chanting, and then picture goes all sepia.

Klaus asks Elijah how he’s feeling, and Elijah says that he thinks the worst has passed, but imagines he’ll have nightmares.  Klaus tells him to gather his strength, because he left their mother a message and he expects her response to be swift and large.  Elijah says they need to make a move before she strikes out.  Marcel says, from behind them both, that steps were taken while they were busy.  And Hayley its good to see Elijah vertical.  She tells him that she and Marcel each left him a gift in the ball room.  Klaus bursts in to find Finncent and Koleb in those magical shackles.  Koleb snarks about how kidnapping is the way to good family reunions.  “Well, wait until you see how we end it,” Klaus says….and I think Koleb may have wet himself.

WOW!!  So, who do you think has the White Oak Stake?  My money is still on Marcel.  Because if Koleb had taken it, Mommy Dearest would probably have it and not struck out against Cami.  But, I suppose, on this show, anything is possible!!  Hit me up in the comments and let me know who you think has it now!  (And, those of you that guessed Dahlia would be shoved into the backseat?  You get a gold star for being right!!!)
