The Originals: 2.13 “The Devil is Damned” Recap {{SPOILERS}}

originals-recap-213

Just the TITLE of this episode has me worried. Especially since, last episode, Klaus referred to himself as the Devil. I mean, I know he thinks of himself as damned but . . . the actual Devil? I don’t believe in the Devil, per se, but I don’t see Klaus as that messed up. Maybe it’s my soft spot for JoMo talking . . . who knows?!

This week’s episode begins with Elijah introducing what’s happened thus far. First up is the reminder from Aiden, Jackson, and Hayley that this Wolfy Wedding is happening in 10 days and what it means for the wolves – control over shifting, etc – and Klaus asking Hayley if Jackson is truly worth her trust with the secret that is Hope. And we see Hayley and Jackson sitting on the dock, and her beginning to tell Jackson about Hope. We’re reminded that Cami and Elijah are still in Arkansas with Baby Hope, and that Elijah is suffering some . . . after-effects, shall we say . . . of his time with Lenorsther. We see Finncent curse Kol to be stuck as Koleb and, therefore, mortal, unable to jump, and doomed to die . . . and soon it seems like. Freya reveals herself to NewBekah, and she is planning on meeting up with her brothers soon. Finncent toys with Marcel, and realizes that Hayley’s baby is still alive, because Marcel’s compelled memories of that day have gaps (shoddy compelling, Klaus!!!) which still makes a chill run up my spine.

originals-recap-213-2

Down in the Quarter (perhaps even Jackson Square, if memory serves), Finncent is chanting over what appears to be a jar full of Meal Worms and a Voodoo doll held above a map of NOLA. Um, EW! And, um, you’re looking in the wrong place! (GOOD!) Turns out there’s a few more maps around. We see Mississippi, and a map of the West Coast, but nothing that indicates Arkansas. Finncent strains as he chants, and all the maps burst into flame – and pretty much everything else in the room does, as well. Frustration is a good look for you, Finncent, as he begins sweeping everything off his table, breaking stuff. He turns around, and who should be in his doorway but . . . you guessed it . . . FREYA!

originals-recap-213-3

Of course, he asks her who she is, and she wonders if he’d recognize her. She jokes that he looks different, too. He’s not in the mood; asks her again who she is. She reminds him of their climbing about in this building as children, and realization begins to dawn. “Now, Finn, don’t break my heart and tell me you’ve forgotten me,” she says. When he finally says her name, Freya launches at him in a huge bear hug that he, clearly, was not expecting!

originals-recap-213-4

An oil painting of Rebekah comes into focus, and NewBekah is finding fault with it’s chin – hers was much more delicate – and Klaus counters that the only thing delicate about Rebekah is her ego. Elijah sounds irritated with their snarking, as he speaks up from the speakerphone on the table. He wants to talk about Freya’s supposed return, but NewBekah says that there’s not all that much to talk about. By the time she’d processed what Freya had said, and who she was, she was gone. NewBekah at first says that Freya could have been anyone, but she did seem familiar somehow.

originals-recap-213-5

Klaus wants to know how Freya is still alive, and is really annoyed that NewBekah didn’t question Freya further, especially about their Aunt Dahlia. Elijah interrupts their squabbling – again – saying that Hope must remain secret, because holding onto that secret has been their saving grace thus far. Klaus is skeptical of trusting Jackson, and threatens to “separate him from his head” but Elijah persuades him that Jackson won’t do anything to “jeopardize that wedding.” NewBekah is miffed that she missed out on the big announcement and wonders what else she missed.

originals-recap-213-6

But, before we find out, we’re taken to the Bayou and shown Jackson whittling away on a piece of wood. Hayley walks into the frame, asking why people keep leaving brooms on their (I’m guessing Mary’s) front porch. She makes some crack about how she’s not the housewife type. Jackson explains that its a old practice, surrounding marriage, when the Shaman wasn’t going to be around for a while, and, well, the people wanted the engaged couple to know that it was ok to seal the deal before the vows (if you catch his drift). And, well, Hayley doesn’t for a second . . . and awkwardness IN SPADES ensues. She makes some joke about a panini press, and they have a quite adorable laugh at her expense.

originals-recap-213-7

Another awkward moment happens, until Hayley breaks it by asking what he’s working on. Turns out, Jackson started working on a crib back when Hayley first came to town, and now that he knows that Hope is actually alive, he’s decided to finish it. It has a cool crescent carved in the headboard, but didn’t Elijah make her one, too? Or was that Klaus?

originals-recap-213-8

This kid is going to have a bazillion hand-made beds! Jackson says that he’s been hearing from some packs from places other than Louisiana, and they want in on this mystical wedding, too. If the Alphas from the other packs denounce their own alpha-hood, and take Jackson as their Alpha, they get Hayley’s awesome powers, as well. Apparently, those other Alphas are on their way to “step down and bow to you” as Hayely puts it, and Jackson gets all excited about how “a couple of weeks after the wedding” she’s going to have “one Hell of an army to protect your little girl.” (Anyone else catch that “couple weeks” thing, and think that that’s going to be an ISSUE OF IMMENSE SIZE at some point in the near future?)

originals-recap-213-9

NewBekah is yelling for Klaus, who doesn’t seem to be answering. Oh, because he was on the phone with Aiden. Klaus has just learned that Finn has Marcel. And now NewBekah knows, too. She wants to know why, and Klaus admits that he has no idea where they are, what they’re doing, or what “specifically to do about it.” “This family makes me want to murder people,” he says, voicing what seems to be the mantra of this show! As soon as he’s finished speaking the line, who should appear but Koleb. And NewBekah goes from zero to INCREDIBLY PISSED in 0.025 seconds. Klaus cracks about the traitor returning, and NewBekah admits that his apology will be nice, but she’s still going to slap him.

originals-recap-213-11

He stops her with the news that he actually needs their help – and, no, the irony of that is not lost on him. NewBekah says she’ll consider helping once she’s back in her real body, but Koleb surpasses her to beg Klaus for help, telling him what Finncent did to him (locked him in Caleb’s body, given him a quick death sentence) and that is met by a few seconds of complete silence. Koleb realizes that they don’t believe him, and Klaus pretty much says “why should we?” Koleb starts to throw a bit of a pity party, and Klaus calls him on it. Koleb turns to NewBekah and says that he won’t apologize to her – she deserved what he did – but he doesn’t deserve to die.

originals-recap-213-10

Klaus accuses Koleb of pulling another con, and Koleb replies “the con I hate the most – the truth.” This seems to sway NewBekah, and after a brief trip down memory lane (that, sadly, does not result in Flashbackville), Klaus seems swayed that Koleb is telling the truth, too. Koleb then says that he was helping Davina try to find Marcel, that Finncent has Marcel (a few seconds too late on that reveal) and that Finncent is trying to get some sort of secret out of Marcel. Klaus looks over Koleb’s shoulder, worriedly, at NewBekah, and Koleb realizes he’s been left out of the loop. Again.

originals-recap-213-12

Freya is telling Finncent that she’s here because of a spell that Dahlia cast. She’s put to sleep for a century, only waking for a single year of life. She says she’s repeated this awful cycle for hundreds of years, and that it started as a way for both her and Dahlia to stay young. Apparently, Dahlia said that if they couldn’t be immortal “this was the next best thing” but Freya learned that all of Dahlia’s “stories were paired with lies.” Finncent asks if this means that Dahlia is still alive. Freya says that she isn’t just alive, “she hunts.” Freya says that she ran away from Dahlia a long time ago, but “to Dahlia, any act of betrayal is punishable by death.” (Who does that sound like? Hello, female version of Klaus!!!) Finncent looks worried, but Freya says that Dahlia is her problem, saying that the only person Dahlia holds a grudge against is her.

originals-recap-213-13

Finncent asks if Dahlia ever told her about the curse that Dahlia put on all the first born Mikaelson children, and Freya says that, yes, Dahlia mentioned it, but why is Finncent worried about that? Freya reminds him that all their siblings are vampires, they can’t have children. Finncent reminds her that Klaus is a hyrbid . . . and can . . . and has.

originals-recap-213-14

At the mention of this, Freya looks scared and grabs her pendant, asking where the baby is. Finncent says she’s hidden, and that Esther told him of the dangers of this baby living, but he can’t find her. Freya says nothing is impossible to find, and tells him that she needs some wormwood and ripple weed, and a few other things, and picks a caterpillar up off the table, saying that sometimes some things need to die (she hides the caterpillar from view) so that other things might live (and a butterfly appears in her hand where the caterpillar was). DUN DUN DUN.

originals-recap-213-15

Marcel’s Merry Men are still strewn about the floor in Finncent’s lair. Marcel stirs, the only one that seems to be able to wake. He crawls to Gia, and whispers to her that they’re going to make it through this. Finncent walks up behind him, and says that he admires that “can-do spirit” that Marcel has. In fact, if makes him the “perfect choice” because Finncent has a job for Marcel. Marcel tries to tell Finncent no, but Finncent starts attacking the Merry Men – even ripping the heart out of one – and when Finncent goes for Gia, Marcel relents. All Finncent wants is Marcel to bring him some of Hayley’s blood.

originals-recap-213-16

In Arkansas, Hope lays on the floor, cooing at Cami’s feet. Cami is sitting at a table, and there’s some sort of doillie thing dangling off it (first thought as a Mother – that’s a bad idea!). Elijah is in the other room – the kitchen – preparing to cook. Hope rolls over toward the doillie and Elijah goes to crack the first egg, but before he does, there’s a crash and the baby screams. Elijah whooshes to Cami’s side, Baby Hope has a gash on her head from something that fell off the table from the dangling doillie of death. Hope’s crying sends Elijah back to the hallway ending in the Red Door. Cami’s able to bring him back, but he’s disorientated.

originals-recap-213-17

Koleb looks as though he’s starting a spell. He asks what the big secret is that Klaus is hiding. “The term secret implies something only known by those who have earned the right to be aware of it,” Klaus replies. Klaus wants him to start the spell, but Koleb says that since Finncent is channeling their parents, he’s a lot more powerful than Koleb and the “week old witch” Rebekah. NewBekah takes offense, but then mucks up the spell. Klaus wants Koleb to call Davina. Koleb doesn’t want to, he doesn’t want her to know that he’s sick. Klaus tells him that’s all well and good, but he needs to do a better job of the spell then.

originals-recap-213-18

Klaus asks if Koleb remembers the spell Finncent used to lock Koleb in his body, with the intention of using it against Finncent in the future. Koleb says he might, but he was a little “distracted by the murdery part.” Klaus says that he could just pull it from Koleb’s memory, but Koleb doesn’t want Klaus in his head. Well, Koleb doesn’t get his wish, and Klaus dives in. We see Koleb and Davina kiss, and then Koleb saying that he wants to drive one of those silver daggers into Klaus’s heart. That’s enough to piss Klaus off. He brutally exits Koleb’s brain and throws Koleb across the room.

originals-recap-213-19

Baby Hope is getting a band-aid on her booboo from Uncle Elijah. Cami says that it’s great that he was able to bring himself back from the Red Door, saying that it is a pretty typical response for someone with P. T. S. D. She tells him that sometimes, not thinking about the problem is the easiest way to make it go away. She says that he needs to stay mentally busy, and tells him that the house is falling apart around them, and unfolds what looks to be a “to-do” list Elijah takes the list from her saying that her solution is “mend the home, mend the man.” She jokingly suggests that he could do that, or they could go fishing and she could tell him the story of how she lost her virginity and he quickly agrees to “mend the home.” Cami suggests that she’ll spend the day with Hope, and he can spend the day “not thinking, and fixing the heater because this place is freezing at night.”

originals-recap-213-20

Jackson is wrestling with a bunch of little kids. Hayley walks up, and sees them, and chuckles. Most of them run off, but a little girl hangs on longer than the rest, and Hayley teases him that she’s got some competition. Jackson says he’s a “one-woman kind of guy” and Hayley tells him that the meeting is taking place up at Mary’s. Hayley tells Jackson to go on ahead, she’ll be right there. She heard Marcel sneaking around in the bushes, and confronts him.

originals-recap-213-21

Marcel says he’s not there to hurt her, but Hayley isn’t so sure. I mean, stalking isn’t always a “just for fun” thing. She says that she would have killed him, were they not friendly. Marcel tells her to remember that as he tells her why he’s there. Finncent sent him to get some of Hayley’s blood. Hayley wants to know why Finncent needs her blood, and Marcel says that he ASSumes that Finncent needs it for the locator spell he’s about to do to find Hope.

originals-recap-213-22

Hayley is visibly freaked, and asks how Finncent figured it out. Marcel says that Finncent just put “two and two together” and Marcel is supposed to meet up with Finncent later, but has no idea where he is right now. Marcel says that he’s got to give Finncent something because he’s killing one of the Merry Men every hour until Marcel returns with Hayley’s blood. Hayley says she needs to talk to Klaus and walks off.

originals-recap-213-23

Meanwhile, Klaus is screaming at Koleb for being the same traitorous git (my words) that he’s always been. Koleb says that Klaus threatening him doesn’t make Klaus any better than Finncent, and NewBekah tries to get them to stop arguing. Koleb says that he came to Klaus because he’s his family, but, once again, he’s the odd one out. In a fit of rage, Koleb tells Klaus that if he wants to find Finncent and kill him, he’s going to have to do it on his own, and Koleb unleashes some witchy joojoo, that levels Klaus and throws NewBekah backward as well. Koleb storms out. “Your stupid temper will be the end of you one day,” she says to Klaus and then she walks off too. Still kneeling, Klaus answers his cell phone, it’s Hayley.

originals-recap-213-24

Koleb is alone in his own lair, smashing things and then begins to cry. At some point his nose begins to bleed. Koleb’s cell phone rings, and it’s Finncent. Koleb thinks he’s calling to gloat, but he’s instead calling to offer to heal Koleb if he’ll do something for Finncent . . . bring him some of Klaus’s blood in an hour. Holding the Paragon Diamond, Koleb says that it would be his pleasure to do so.

originals-recap-213-25

Elijah is walking around with a toolbox, and a small radio, and starts mending a fence. (No, literally.) Instead of hammering the nail in slowly, however, he punches the nail through with one, vampiric blow of the hammer.

originals-recap-213-26

Klaus is yelling into his cellphone, for Elijah to “pick up the damned phone” because Finncent is looking for Hope and NewBekah is on his heels, telling him that it will take 100 witches to break the cloaking spell that hides her. Klaus retorts that he “would have said the same about Mother finding you, and yet a flock of Starlings later, and here we are.” NewBekah tries to get Klaus to calm down, just as Koleb bursts back in, blowing something in NewBekah’s face that makes her collapse, and then attacking Klaus with some witchy-woo. Klaus’s mouth spouts blood and his eyes go Wolfy Gold, and we see that Koleb is clutching the Paragon Diamond, making him strong enough to attack Klaus this way.

originals-recap-213-27

Koleb asks him if he’s angry, and tells him to “join the party, I’ve been here a thousand years” and continues to lash out at him. Koleb says that he was building the dagger to protect himself against Klaus, and that he’s not the bad guy in this chapter, he’s the wronged one. He’s the dead one that was never mourned, he says, and now that Klaus has everything he’s ever wanted, he needs to remember that Kol was the one that no one cared if he lived or died. Klaus tells him to shut up and attacks. Klaus says that they’ve all suffered and all been wronged in some way, as he slams Koleb against a wall, and Koleb begs him to end it. “I’m not gonna kill you, you idiot,” Klaus says, dropping Koleb on the floor, and saying that he can’t kill his own brother. Koleb counters that it didn’t stop him from getting the dagger out repeatedly against him, and Klaus admits that he daggered all of his siblings – each for their own good – but Koleb needs to stop whining about always being left out.

originals-recap-213-28

“You are a Mikaelson. You’re my blood, and I need you,” Klaus screams at him. Koleb says that Klaus talks about family, but he doesn’t know what that means, since Klaus hasn’t let him in on this big secret. Klaus begs Koleb to prove himself, and offers his hand to help Koleb up. Koleb takes it, and says that Finncent wants Klaus’s blood and promised to heal him if he delivered it. Klaus wonders if Koleb knows where he is. Koleb says that he needs to know why Finncent wants it. Koleb says that he knows enough about magic to know that he’s been hexed, but he doesn’t want to die giving Finncent what he wants. Klaus says that Finn has been “dead to me for a long time. Tonight, I intend to make that official.” Klaus asks Koleb to help him, and then he’ll tell Koleb what the big secret is. Koleb says that Finncent will be in “the bell tower of the Saint Louis Cathedral.” Koleb grabs Klaus’s hands, places them on his own head, and tells Klaus to go ahead and find the spell that Finncent cast on him. Klaus jumps in.

originals-recap-213-29

Mary is burning Sage, and approaches a line of wolves with it. She tells them that what binds wolves together is what is most important to them – the earth of their territory and the blood of their packs. Mary seems to be performing some sort of ritual, and Hayley walks up to Jackson, saying that they have a problem. Jackson wants to know what’s up, but Hayley says there are too many ears around, but that she needs some of his blood.

originals-recap-213-30

She tells him that it’s a “stall” and that she’ll explain later. Jackson says her timing is perfect, and we see the other Alphas cutting their palms. Mary is collecting their blood, saying that it is binding them together, creating a new Crescent pack. Mary asks them all to renounce their Alpha status, and the men all kneel. Jackson cuts his palm as well, adding his blood to the bowl while Hayley watches.

originals-recap-213-31

Back in the dusty Bell Tower that Finncent’s been hanging out in, Klaus, Koleb, and NewBekah enter the room where Freya and Finncent were talking recently. Apparently, Finncent had arranged to meet Koleb there, but he’s no where to be found. Looking around, Koleb notices the remnants of a spell in the room, saying it’s a very old one. NewBekah climbs some nearby stairs to get a better look. Klaus doesn’t want Koleb drooling over the cool magic, he just wants to know what the spell did. NewBekah notices something on the table, and points it out to Koleb, who picks it up. It’s a bit of wood. Koleb chants over it, and it changes into a Rune tile. Koleb says that it’s the symbol for “baby.” Koleb notices the looks on NewBekah’s and Klaus’s faces, and puts his own two and two together, coming up with the secret his siblings had kept from him. NewBekah realizes that Finncent’s already figured out where Hope is, that all of this “get so-and-so’s blood” was just a distraction.

originals-recap-213-32

Elijah hangs up his hammer, and hears his phone ringing. Before Elijah can really get a word in, Klaus tells him that Finncent knows everything, and knows where they are – to expect Finncent’s arrival soon. Annnnnnd, there’s Finncent! Darkening the doorway of the shed where Elijah is, and once Elijah has acknowledged him, Finncent throws Elijah backward with a twitch of his wrist.

originals-recap-213-33

Cami’s calling Elijah from the local market . . . . from a payphone. It seems she left her cell behind when she left. She tells his voicemail that they are heading home now. She turns to look at Hope, and the band-aid on her forehead doesn’t seem to be covering anything anymore. After hanging up the pay phone, Cami removes the band-aid from Hope’s forehead . . . there’s nothing under it. Cami snarks that she doesn’t think the “pediatric ward would appreciate Uncle Elijah using vampire blood to heal boo-boos.”

originals-recap-213-34

Klaus is losing his mind. Cami’s not answering her phone. (Of course not, she doesn’t have it.) NewBekah says that Elijah will protect them, but Klaus reminds her that Finncent is channeling both of their parents making him more powerful than usual. Klaus asks Koleb how they can sever the link between Esther, Mikael, and Finncent, but Koleb says he can’t sever it. There is something they can try, though, but it’ll take “power of our own . . . and a lot of it.”

originals-recap-213-35

Elijah picks himself up and confronts Finncent. Finncent says a few words, knocks Elijah off his course. Elijah stumbles. Elijah asks how Finncent found him, and Finncent tells him that he had a little help . . . from their sister. Elijah immediately thinks of Rebekah, and dismisses any thought of her helping Finncent. Finncent reminds Elijah that they have more than one sister, and he gets the feeling that she “doesn’t like you all that much.” Elijah asks if Finncent means Freya. Finncent reminds Elijah of all the tales Esther told him about Dahlia’s quest to have all the first-born Mikaelsons, and he doesn’t want to get in her way when she comes. He’s in “no mood to die.”

originals-recap-213-36

Hayley is telling Marcel that the whole “go get so-and-so’s blood” thing was a ruse, Finncent already knew where Hope was. Hayley wants to go and fight. Marcel stops her, reminding her that it’s a 6 hour drive. Momma Little Wolf doesn’t want to just stand around and do nothing. Marcel reassures her that there’s no way Elijah will let any harm come to Hope today. Marcel tells her to go and help Jackson build up that wolf army, that will protect Hope tomorrow. Hayley nods, and leaves.

originals-recap-213-37

Gia turns on her cellphone flashlight, and it seems all of Marcel’s Merry Men have been dropped off (in a van) in the Bayou. (Keep in mind, they are all still Super-Sized Hungry.) Gia looks around and asks no one in particular where they are. One of the other Merry Men says that he smells blood, and they all start walking toward it.

originals-recap-213-38

Elijah accuses Finncent of always hiding behind his magic, and calls him pathetic. Finncent lashes back, bringing up all of Elijah’s previously hidden bad acts. Finncent says that what he’s doing now, he’s doing for the members of his family that can still be saved, saying that neither Elijah or Klaus made the list. Using magic, again, Finncent launches an ax into Elijah’s back. And then a shovel through his heart. Elijah starts to go grey and then lies still, dessicated. Finncent walks away.

originals-recap-213-39

Back at the cemetery, Koleb is trying to get in to the place where Finncent has their parents in Papa Tunde circles. He tells NewBekah that he can’t get in without Finncent’s blood. NewBekah laments that they can’t do much, if they can’t even get to the circle that binds Finncent to Mikael and Esther. Koleb says that they aren’t going to disrupt Finncent’s power, they are going to try overloading it. NewBekah thinks that making Finncent stronger is a pleasant idea (they really need to develop a sarcasm font) but Koleb explains that a witch can “only ever channel so much power. After that, things start to get ugly. I mean, you literally start to disintegrate from the inside.” Koleb goes on to explain that Finncent will either have to release the power or let it kill him. NewBekah points out that he won’t actually die, he’ll just body jump. Koleb says that he’ll end up in a body 300 miles away from Hope.

originals-recap-213-40

NewBekah smiles, and tells Koleb that this is the side of him that she likes. Koleb vows to get her back into her own body before he dies. She tells him not to worry about that, but to worry about the fact that she’s not going to be much use to him since she knows nothing about magic. Koleb explains that she doesn’t need to know anything, he’s just going to channel her power.

originals-recap-213-41

Klaus walks in, carrying a bag. Koleb asks if Klaus brought what he asked for. Apparently the bag is full of “mystical artifacts and dark objects galore.” Klaus has one more thing to add to the collection, though, the White Oak Stake. Koleb asks if Klaus really trusts him with it, and Klaus says that he’ll give Koleb anything he needs. Koleb takes NewBekah’s hand and begins the spell.

originals-recap-213-42

Mary has made a paste from the blood mixture, and wipes some of it on what looks like a contract. She says that after she anoints the Alphas, they will be sealed as part of the Crescents. She doesn’t get to finish, though, because Marcel’s Merry Men have arrived. They manage to pause for a second, but then Gia’s eyes go all vampy . . . and the Merry Men attack the kneeling wolves. Jackson tries to reason with them, but when that doesn’t help, he starts to attack with a nearby branch. Hayley and Marcel barge in, Marcel breaking the neck of one of his guys, and Hayley just pulling Jackson back.

originals-recap-213-43

Marcel suggests that they try and hold off the vampires until Finncent’s spell breaks. Hayley tells Jackson to get the Alphas to the cabin, she’ll hold off the vampires. Marcel yells after her to try and keep his guys alive. She says “ditto” and then goes into BAD ASS mode. Jackson and Marcel herd Mary and the Alphas into the cabin, but the Merry Men are attacking the house pretty hard. Jackson asks if Marcel has any idea how to stop this, and Marcel says they just have to “weather the storm.”

originals-recap-213-44

Finncent enters the house in Arkansas. He looks around, and sees baby toys. Elijah wakes on the floor of the shed. Finncent picks up a sweater of Cami’s and starts calling out for her. Elijah can hear this with his super vampire hearing. (Funny how they seem to forget about this power a lot.) Elijah manages to pull himself up to kneeling and then pull the shovel out of his chest.

originals-recap-213-45

Koleb and NewBekah are chanting at the Lyonne crypt. Wind whistles around them, until something pushes them off the door. Koleb’s nose is bleeding but says that they are close, they just need a little more power. Klaus offers himself. He says that he’s a “vampire-werewolf hybrid with 10 centuries of blood on my hands. Channel me.” Koleb refuses. Klaus says that Koleb wanted to gain his trust, this is his chance. Picking up Tunde’s blade, Klaus points it at his own chest and tells Koleb not to fail him. NewBekah looks worried, but Koleb starts carving on Klaus’s forehead with the blade, and then he and NewBekah lay Klaus on the floor as he turns grey. NewBekah and Koleb begin to chant, and this time it looks as though something’s happening.

originals-recap-213-46

Finncent walks further into the house, still calling for Cami. Something comes flying out of nowhere and lodges itself in Finncent’s side. Elijah is standing in the doorway. Finncent pulls whatever it is out. NewBekah and Koleb are chanting, and Finncent’s nose begins to bleed. Not missing a chance to throw Elijah around, Finncent lashes out a few more times. The last time, resulting in Elijah being thrown through a wall and landing on the floor next to Hope’s playpen (or portable crib).

originals-recap-213-47

Elijah sees the blood on his shirt from his earlier stabbing, and even gets some of it on his hand. This sends him back to the hallway ending in the Red Door again. He comes back for a moment, and Finncent advances on him. NewBekah and Koleb are still chanting, and Finncent begins to scream. More chanting. More screaming. Finncent drops to his knees, NewBekah and Koleb are thrown back again . . .

originals-recap-213-48

. . . and Hayley is kicking more ass. She spins to find a bloody Gia behind her, and says that she doesn’t want to kill her. Gia’s eyes roll back in her head, and Marcel whooshes in to catch her before she falls. The rest of his Merry Men, that Hayley hasn’t taken out, fall to the ground around them. “They broke the spell,” says Captain Obvious (I mean, Marcel).

originals-recap-213-49

NewBekah runs to Koleb’s side, “you’re a genius, you glorious bastard” she tells him. They hug, and Koleb admits that he’s a little surprised it worked, to be honest. And then he starts to cough. NewBekah tells him that she’s not going to let him die, “whatever it takes.” (Part of me wonders if he slipped that White Oak Stake into his coat during that fit, but I have no evidence to prove that theory.)

originals-recap-213-50

Marcel is carrying off unconscious, or dead, Merry Men and Jackson comes up behind Hayley and hugs her. They both seem genuinely concerned that the other had been hurt. “Hope will be alright. Elijah will protect her,” she says. She says, too, that these attacks are only going to get worse. She tells him that they need to get married as soon as possible.

originals-recap-213-51

NewBekah and Koleb are helping Klaus to a sitting position. He asks if it worked, and Koleb beams up at him that “we did our bit.” “Finn is back to being a normal, regular-strength maniacal bastard,” he assures Klaus. Klaus says that he knows the three of them haven’t always seen eye-to-eye, but in times like these he’s reminded of something Elijah always says . . . “family is power.” Klaus thanks both Koleb and NewBekah, and NewBekah voices concern about Elijah. Klaus assures her that Elijah “will prevail, of that I have no doubt.”

Cami’s driving home. Finncent is struggling to stand, looking quite scared. Elijah is studying the blood on his hands as Finncent staggers up behind him. Hope fusses a little in the back seat. Cami starts to hum a little. Elijah is still looking at his hands. Finncent chooses to taunt Elijah with “untidiness is your undoing” when he notices that Elijah is covered in gore. Finncent asks if Elijah’s dirty clothes remind him of the memories he had hidden from. Finncent mentions Tatia, trying to get a response from Elijah. Cami’s still heading up the long dirt road to the house. Finncent tells Elijah that Hope will die because she was left in the care of a “wretch” like him. “I suppose your little niece never really had a chance,” Finncent says. And Hope looks like she’s settled down a little bit.

And then Cami’s SUV just . . . stops. Cami pushes the button to try and start it a few times, and nothing happens. She is within sight of the house now. Finncent is still tormenting Elijah verbally, until he finally replies, “Let me assure you, my mind is quite clear . . . much like the gas that has pervaded every single room in this home whilst you have been ranting (Elijah stands up) like the lunatic that you are.”

Elijah turns toward Finncent, “You have disgraced this family for the last time,” he says as he takes off his Daylight Ring and thrusts his hand into the sunlight streaming into the room through the window. “Goodbye, Brother,” Elijah says, and the entire house goes up in a HUGE explosion. Which Cami sees, and then her car starts all on it’s own.

So, is Elijah going to live through that??? Oh boy. A whole new set of worries . . . until next week!!
