First of all, just know that I don’t advocate “ship wars” – this is all just in fun! That being said, who doesn’t love a good romance? The Vampire Diaries has been great at bringing us some remarkable pairings. And even though we’ve been told that The Originals will be focusing on family ties, and the power struggle to win back the city of New Orleans, we have to hope that somewhere in there, the characters find time for a little bit of love, right?
And of all the characters who deserve a good romance, I believe that Elijah is one of the top candidates. Elijah is the epitome of charm, elegance, good looks, and loyalty. He definitely deserves someone who will return that loyalty, won’t betray his trust, and will give him the chance to show his softer side. The question is … who should it be?
I’ve put together a list of possible candidates. Some may not be very likely possibilities, but hey – this is our own little “fantasy league” of dating, right? So vote below, and let’s see who most of you would like to see Elijah paired up with in a perfect world. :)
Elena – Yeah, he’d have to stand in a pretty long line here, and she’s literally stabbed him in the back, but Elijah and Elena have always had a special connection, even so. He still admires many qualities about her. Does he carry a torch even now?
Katherine – Talk about a long history here. Elijah has always tried to save his “Katerina” from Klaus, dating all the way back to when she was the human doppelganger that Klaus wanted to sacrifice. Recently, they re-kindled that romance, but was Katherine sincere? Can Elijah really trust that his feelings are returned?
Hayley – Family is so important to Elijah. Family above all is his creed, and Hayley is offering him the chance to expand that family with new life, something that’s never been possible before. It may not be his child, but Uncle Elijah sure seems protective of both the baby and Hayley. Could that protective instinct grow into something more?
Sophie – They may be on opposite sides for now, but these two will be forced to work together to bring down Marcel, and that could create some interesting situations. Elijah obviously likes strong, independent women, and Sophie fits that description, so maybe some sparks could fly?
Cami – This girl seems somewhat similar to pre-vampire, human Elena. She’s tough, and seems to have a special knack for seeing beyond the surface of things into a person’s heart. Elijah values humanity, and this could draw him to Cami. Perhaps first out of curiosity, but maybe later for deeper reasons?
Other – Perhaps you feel none of these women are a good fit for Elijah, you have another choice, or maybe a new character will have to be brought in that will be a better fit for the handsome Original?
None – Or do you think Elijah doesn’t need a romantic interest, and should just focus on his family, and helping Klaus gain control back of their lost kingdom?
