Thirteen Things We Learned from 4.02 “No Quarter”

So, if any of you missed the first few minutes of last week’s episode – you need to WATCH IT – but I’m here to give you the high points.

1. The Mikaelsons are better – or at least more entertaining – when they are together. Just hearing Elijah fuss at Kol made my heart soar. Mr Awesome Scruff and Scrappy Lil Brother always have the best snark, and the beginning of this episode brought all that back. (THANK YOU, JULIE PLEC!)

2.  Despite his protests to the contrary, Marcel is still in love with Rebekah. He gives a pretty good speech about why he isn’t, but do any of you believe him? I certainly don’t. If he really felt that venom he spewed at her, he’d have his minion actually kill her – or he’d have done it himself!

3. The power of a mother’s love is not to be doubted. Maxine’s love for Adam was poured into the protection charm she made for him, and gave to Vincent, which ends up protecting the elder witch from the Angry Ball of Blue Light.

4. Josh is not only Rousseau’s DJ, he’s the owner!

5. Cami is the voice of reason in Klaus’s tormented mind. And hers is the voice that convinces him that he has the strength within himself to pull out Tunde’s blade which gives him the strength to reach through the small opening Freya is able to tear in the salt circle keeping him prisoner. And she just might be the best head-shrinker in NOLA.

6. Elijah would be a hard parent to get ANYTHING past. Mr Awesome Scruff has eyes not only in the back of his head, but his perifery is pretty adept, too. “Wouldn’t you agree, Joshua?”

7. Elijah may think he’s in control of his siblings, but, as usual, Rebekah runs the show. And, almost as frequently, things backfire . . . at first.

8. Kol still has a soft spot for Davina. And Josh just may be the SECOND BEST head-shrinker in NOLA, for calling out Kol on being angry (still) over Davina’s death.

9. Hayley and Freya are a pretty amazing team.

10. TEUTOBURG = “a battle, where the good guys caught the bad guys off guard. Marcel is warning me that you are all here.”

11. The Angry Ball of Blue Light is SUPER ANGRY.

12. Vincent knows something about this. And he fears it. A LOT. This can’t be good for any one in the state of Louisiana. (And how in the HECK has Vincent missed this symbol popping up all over the place until now? Does he walk around, looking at his feet?!)

13. This chick is loyal. Her name is, apparently, Sofya. (I had to look it up on IMDb, because I hadn’t heard anyone utter her name! Welcome to Thunderdome, Sofya. I mean, NOLA.) Her cohort suggests selling Rebekah, but no amount of money will part her from her objective – keeping Rebekah safe.

BONUS:  Kol has some serious anger issues. Is this his way of mourning Davina? Because I really don’t think she’d like that. And there’s a sweet moment a bit later between him and Rebekah that shows us that softer side is still there, buried under grief. And, Kol sends Josh’s new beau a text from Josh’s phone (he stole it for the pictures of Davina, I think, at first) bringing the two of them together again.

BONUS #2: Papa Tunde’s blade is still in play. After pulling it out of his own chest, a weakened Klaus plunges it into Marcel, who manages to pull it out again. So, we may not’ve seen the end of that thing. (Thanks for keeping Owiso’s memory alive, Ms Plec!)

And just because I love this look, a glimpse of a tired (and a little bit shaggy) Klaus:

Do you really think the Mikaelson’s will stay out of New Orleans? Because I don’t buy that for a minute.

Enjoy tonight’s episode, where I HOPE we get a name for the Angry Ball of Blue Light (even though I love calling it that!)! And just what is in that book that Vincent took out of the safe in St Anne’s? And why is it all his fault?
