Lots of scoop provided yesterday from The Originals San Diego Panel. Check out what the cast & Julie Plec had to say!

On Rebekah and crossovers via THR:

With Elijah making his way to New Orleans in the first episode, Plec addressed how Rebekah (Claire Holt) enters the fray. (In the season finale of Vampire Diaries, she was seen making plans with Matt (Zach Roerig) for the summer.) Rebekah will be seen in Mystic Falls in the first episode of Vampire Diaries, Plec said, before she heads to The Originals.

Does this mean that there will be opportunities for Vampire Diaries-Originals crossovers? “Creatively we very much want to keep these relationships alive in the series,” Plec said of threads that have been pre-established in the mothership. “There is some unfinished business … [and we want to] play in that world.”

Talking about the new twist on the pilot via The Wrap:

“It was incredibly difficult to figure out the concept for,” Plec said of writing the first episode.

Since the show’s backdoor pilot was written for “The Vampire Diaries” and did a good job of setting up “The Originals” world, Plec was excited to move on from there. But the show’s studio, Warner Bros. Television, felt that the nine months between when it aired and when “The Originals” returns in the fall was too long a span for viewers. They asked her to retell the pilot.

So, how does she do that and move the show forward?

“It will be told from Elijah’s point of view,” she revealed. “Elijah comes in to find out what trouble Klaus is up to.”

The cast answers a fan question about Klaus & Hayley’s baby via Zap2It:

When a fan asked whether Klaus and Hayley’s baby will be a hybrid or some new creature, Plec hedged and says, “I obviously can’t give an answer to that.” Still, she gave an answer of swords, saying, “I think that everybody will have their own opinion about what this baby and what it means.” She continues, “There will be a million supernatural debates. … It will be part of the fun of waiting for it to be born.”

Is there hope for Klaroline? via TV Guide:

“They’re so exciting together,” series boss Julie Plec said at the Comic-Con panel on Saturday. “Some [fans] are rooting against every single woman on this show because of that… and it’s not like she doesn’t exist [anymore]. In a way, she’s the Buffy to his Angel.” And while that sounds romantic, Buffy and Angel didn’t end up together.

Although Plec has not ruled out Caroline crossing over, Morgan is excited for his character to put Caroline on the back burner for now and explore new love interests because he wants to play that softer, more affection side to Klaus again. “I’m rooting for that element of the character,” he said.
