Such an ominous title, yeah?

“Previously on The Originals,” in Klaus’s voice starts us off. Freya reminds us how scary Dahlia is and that she’s coming for Klaus and Hayley’s baby. NewBekah asks Davina if she’s been sleeping – she’s been holed up in Kol’s hiding spot, trying to work out how to bring him back. Klaus plants a garden of seeds in Aiden’s head about how the wolves need a new leader. Josh and Aiden squabble – and it is ADORABLE. Elijah asks Freya if she knows how to stop Dahlia – and “given the proper materials” she says she can, and she’s sent Mikael after those items. Elijah assures Klaus that nothing will get to Hope, but they need to try every weapon they have the opportunity to use – including Freya. (Klaus doesn’t trust her. Duh.) Elijah stresses, “Dahlia is coming.”

Hayley, Hope, and Jackson are in the Quarter, making the absolute cutest family picture . . . until things start getting creepy. A violinist is playing a happy tune . . . and then all of a sudden it sounds more like a funeral march. They look at a nearby chalkboard menu, and it reads “A promise made is a debt to be paid.” A man walks up, offers them a flower (a Dahlia, no less) for Hope, and Jackson refuses it. The wind kicks up, and the man tells them that Black Dahlias are in bloom. When Hayley tries to make a dash for it, the man grabs her arm, his eyes go white, and Klaus grabs him by the throat. While Klaus is threatening the spirit of Dahlia, Hope fusses, as Jackson’s eyes go white. Hayley yells for Klaus, but Jackson speaks before he can do anything. “I am here. I am everywhere, and I intend to take what is mine,” he says. Just as Klaus realizes Jackson has been possessed, Dahlia leaves him, and Jackson has no memory of what happened. Klaus whispers, “Dahlia.”

Klaus is yelling at Hayley and Jackson for leaving the “fortress” that is the compound. Hayley shuts him up, and says that they need to concentrate on what they’re going to do. Klaus makes a crack about getting a leash, and Elijah silences him again, with a very loud, “CHILDREN, PLEASE!” Mr Awesome Scruff agrees that Klaus should be angry with them for leaving the compound, but also agrees with Hayley that that anger needs to be focused into a “new strategy.” Freya explains that what Dahlia was doing in the Quarter is called “kenning” and she’s never seen it done on this scale before. {Ok, ok. We get it. Dahlia is powerful. Now. Can we see it, instead of just being told about it?} Hayley is not encouraged by this news, but Freya has made a tonic that will, at least, prevent Dahlia from using any one of them as her spy. Rebekah encourages everyone with a “bottoms up.” And Elijah holds out a cup for a resistant Klaus. He refuses to drink, as everyone else does. Klaus thinks that this means that Dahlia is preparing for battle, “sooner rather than later.” They all agree that they really don’t know what to expect and Elijah suggests that they create a new place that’s protected from any sort of witchcraft. Freya agrees that that’s a good idea, but says that she has another one – they could use Jackson to trace the magic back to it’s source. Everyone looks to Hayley. After a minute, and a raised eyebrow look from Klaus, she agrees. Klaus dismisses everyone, saying that he’s going to find a a “way to murder that god-forsaken witch.”

Davina is putting flowers on the grave of the witch that Kol had inhabited. Klaus teases her about being a teenager that hangs out in graveyards, calling it a “morbid habit.” He says that he needs something from her, saying that Freya dispatched Mikael to get some items they need, and he wants her to find him. Davina snarks that she’s busy, “mourning another dead boyfriend.” Klaus offers her some of Kol’s ashes – which she would need to resurrect him – in return for her help finding Mikael. Davina agrees to the deal.

Aiden and Josh are lounging in bed, being absolutely freaking adorable. Aiden’s phone vibrates as they’re talking about spending the rest of the day in bed with NetFlix and Chinese food. He tells Josh that its Jackson, and Josh says that he’s going to get in the shower. We see Aiden’s phone . . . its actually Klaus. Klaus tells Aiden that Jackson has been “compromised” but that he’s fine, hes just proven (again) that he isn’t a worthy leader. He asks Aiden to serve as his “eyes and ears” at the compound and report back anything that he should know.

Hayley comes into Jackson’s room, asking him if he’s ok. He’s freaked out that Dahlia got into him, worrying that he could have hurt her, or Hope. She gives him some of Freya’s tea that will keep Dahlia at bay. Jackson says that he could feel Dahlia inside of him, that she’s all darkness. Jackson wants to take Hope, and the wolves, and leave town tonight. Hayley says that they can’t just run from their home. Jackson says that Hayley and Hope are his home, and that running isn’t always a sign of weakness – it’s what wolves do. He thinks that in the Bayou – where he knows every nook and cranny – they’d be safer. Hayley asks, “What about Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah? They’re Hope’s family.” Jackson reminds her that Dahlia is a part of that family, too. He says that this war started a thousand years ago, and isn’t their fight.

In the Quarter, Davina asks Klaus if Aiden is at his “beck and call” these days. Klaus says that he’s just mentoring the young wolf, and Davina says that Josh won’t be happy when he finds out. “And I am shaking in my boots at the mere thought of his displeasure,” Klaus snarks. He says that Josh and Aiden being in love puts them in a place of vulnerability because it gives them both something to lose and makes them too easily manipulated. “It must really suck to be you all the time,” Davina says and counters that he has something to lose now, too, in Hope. She asks him how it feels to know that he’s one of them now, with something to lose. Before he gets to answer, a taxi pulls up, and Davina indicates that’s where Mikael is.

Sure enough, Mikael steps out of the taxi, and Klaus appears right behind him. After a few barbs at each other, Klaus proposes that they might be better served working together. “Care to join your bastard son on a witch hunt?” he asks.

In Algiers, Josephine is in what she calls “Saint James Infirmary” and reveals that she may have been a bit of a party animal in her younger years. {Go Josephine!} She’s talking to Marcel and Elijah, wondering why they’ve brought her here and spruced up the place. Marcel reminds her that St James Infirmary was a place of neutral ground once, where “all were welcome and safe.” Elijah says that he’d like to invite her to cast a spell, “one that would prevent the use of any magic within these walls.” She balks at the idea that she would willingly create a place where the witches would be rendered useless. Elijah asks if she’s sensed the evil that is lurking, and she says that she has, but it isn’t her fight. She has a responsibility to the witches. Elijah counters that if anything should happen to his family due to someone’s inaction, he would be forced to consider them an enemy. Josephine counters that she isn’t without empathy – something she’s said before in this conversation – and that a simple blessing with a disruption spell intertwined into it ought to do the trick. Mr Awesome Scruff does his best slow nod.

In the Quarter, Klaus sits with his hand resting on the White Oak Stake across from Mikael. A waitress asks if he wants “some fries with that stake” and chuckles that she bought one just like it at Marie Laveau’s Voodoo Shop. He chuckles, and asks for a bourbon. Mikael is a little snot to her and grumbles about how much he hates NOLA. {TRAVESTY!!!!} Klaus says that he knows Freya sent Mikael after some stuff she needs to get rid of Dahlia, and asks if he’s completed that task. Apparently, there are “three elements total, combined they represent Dahlia’s sole weakness.” And, of course, Mikael challenges Klaus to try and take them from him. Klaus says that Mikael’s mind always turns to violence and remembers some tidbit that Mikael tried to teach them as children, “the true Viking warrior hones his fear like a blade” he says, in a very good impression of Mikael’s voice. They throw a few barbs at each other – Mikael asking if Klaus is going to whine about not being loved, and Klaus saying that Mikael knows when he’s outmatched which is why he hasn’t tried to take the Stake from him – and then Klaus brings them back to task. Klaus suggests that Mikael give him the items Freya requested – pretending that he’s protecting Freya in the process. Klaus says that if they win in this endeavor, “both of our daughters will be free. If we lose, well, at least you die knowing that the bastard finally got his due.”

Painting on Jackson’s chest with what looks to be charcoal, Freya says that they should be able to trace Dahlia all the way back to the source of her power. She warns that she’ll need to “dig deep.” Hayley looks on. Freya asks to channel Rebekah, and Hayley makes sure that Jackson is ok with this. The sisters join hands over Jackson, and begin chanting. Jackson starts writhing. The picture goes all wonky as the spell takes hold. And, for just one second, we see Dahlia with her hand on Freya’s shoulder. Rebekah screams and pulls away. Freya urges her to continue, but Rebekah is clearly horrified by something. Hayley asks what’s going on. Rebekah says that Freya is the reason that Dahlia can cast such powerful magic – wait for it, BIG REVEAL COMING – Dahlia is channeling Freya!!!!

Hayley reacts to this news by accusing Freya of helping Dahlia. Freya is completely freaking out. She says she had no idea about that, and is concerned that Dahlia has found her. Freya thinks this is Dahlia’s way of trying to turn everyone against her. Freya goes toward Jackson, and Hayley pushes her away. Rebekah intervenes. Rebekah tells Freya that she wants to trust her – she really does – but Freya said it herself, she’s bonded to Dahlia and asks Freya to leave. Freya leaves.

Mikael and Klaus are still talking. Klaus is going on about working together. Mikael wonders why Klaus thinks he needs help, says that he knows some people tremble at the mention of Klaus’s name, but he knows the truth of Klaus’s nature – he’s a “little boy desperate for a daddy.” Klaus counters that he might have been that, once, but the “centuries have turned me into an altogether different beast” and that he has Mikael’s cruelty to thank for that. “I am vicious and hateful, just like you,” Klaus says. Mikael asks why he should trust Klaus, and Klaus says that because Hope’s life depends on it and reminds Mikael that Freya’s life hangs in the balance, too. They are fighting for the same thing – for the one thing that doesn’t “see us for the monsters we are.” Mikael wants to know what the plan is. Klaus says that because Mikael has the items they need to make the weapon, all that remains is actually doing the killing. Just then, a woman walks up to the glass outside where they’re sitting, holding her hand out – palm out – toward them, eyes glazed over like the ones before. The glass begins to shatter and break and flies in toward them. Mikael goes to chase the woman, Klaus grabs his arm, “one final hunt together, then. Do try to keep up, old man,” he says.

Freya is walking down the street in the Quarter, and everyone seems to be congregating around her, staring at her. The street goes eerily quiet, and Freya looks around. She starts to run, turns, and runs smack into Dahlia. “Hello, my Freya,” she says.

With a flick of her wrist, Dahlia releases all the people in the street and they go about their way. Dahlia finds it “interesting” that she found Freya so close to the thing that she’s owed, and wonders if Freya went to her siblings and told them that they could fight her together. She wants to know how Freya’s siblings responded, and if they welcomed her with open arms. Freya asks what Dahlia’s going to do to her. “You always were a selfish, ungrateful child,” Dahlia says and complains about the centuries she has spent feeding, clothing, and caring for her. Dahlia says that Freya was always wishing for another life, and then she gives Freya a witchy headache. Dahlia says that, soon, Freya will beg to be brought back into her home. She, in essence, says that she’s going to kill the rest of Freya’s family, making her the only one she has left. “You should know better than to defy me,” Dahlia says, releasing Freya, “a lesson your father and brother will learn . . . shortly.”

Elijah asks “what do you mean, she’s gone?” Hayley says that “she’s a risk” and we realize they’re talking about Freya. Rebekah wants Hayley and Elijah to stop arguing. Hayley says that she was protecting Hope from someone that no one seems to fully trust. Elijah agrees, but states that Freya kept her promise and saved Rebekah’s life – that should mean something. He says that they haven’t given Freya the same in return. The girls look guilty. Rebekah asks what they’re going to do now, and Elijah tells them of his plan to have St James Infirmary fortified by Josephine’s spell, making it a “sanctuary against magic.” He tells Hayley to pack her things, that Marcel will be escorting her and Hope there “tonight at 9 o’clock.” He tells Rebekah to wait with him so that, in case Freya returns, they will be there. He reminds them both, that even if they don’t quite trust her, they cannot win this fight without her.

Davina is pouring salt on the ground, in what looks to be a circle. She’s telling Klaus that this is the last favor she’s doing for him, and swears that she’ll kill him if he doesn’t give her Kol’s ashes. Klaus assures her that he’s a man of his word. Mikael doesn’t agree, “actually, he’s a liar, a beast, and a degenerate, but in this exceptional instance, he may be of some use,” he says. Mikael says that “Dahlia’s minion” is inside St Anne’s, and Klaus says that it is clearly a trap. Mikael agrees, and says that its a good thing that they are bringing a surprise of their own. Davina is confused. “Wait. So you two are friends now?” she asks. Hahaha. No, Davina, “merely aligned out of necessity for the purpose we both love most – glorious murder.” Klaus tells her that she’ll even be helping. Davina says that she thought he needed a “binding spell.” Mikael gives her the things they need bound – soil from Dahlia’s homeland (“that which links her to this mortal coil”), Viking ash (“that of her oppressors, the source of her immense hatred”), and the blood of her adopted child Freya (“the closest thing to love that miserable witch has ever known”). Davina says that all the sources of her power, once bound together, will form a weakness, and asks what they want her to do. Klaus tells her that they want her to bind those ingredients to a weapon. “Well, am I supposed to go to the toy store and get a slingshot?” Davina snarks. Mikael provides a knife. Mikael and Klaus exchange a few more barbs – Klaus about Mikael not being himself if he doesn’t have a knife, Mikael saying that Klaus would probably steal it and dull it making his art – and Klaus asks Davina to do them this favor in helping them destroy Dahlia and he will live up to his promise. “I swear it on my daughter’s life,” he says. Davina tells them she hopes they know what they’re doing, and turns to begin.

Freya walks into the compound, asking to see Elijah. Rebekah tells the wolves to let her in. Elijah and Rebekah greet her, and Freya looks seriously spooked. Freya tells them what happened in the street, and warns them that she intends to strike tonight. She thinks that Klaus and Mikael will be “her next victims.” Elijah notes that she came back to warn the same people that, only hours ago, threw her out. Freya says that she understands Klaus’s mistrust – and theirs – but she hasn’t come this far to see her family die from the very thing she’s been trying to escape for a thousand years. She begs them to help her save Klaus and Mikael. Elijah asks her what she needs. Freya says that Dahlia will lure them in, preferably somewhere that “has been steeped in death.” Rebekah says, “Well, welcome to New Orleans.” Freya says that, no, she means “Dark Power, created by massacre, sacred ground that’s been stained in the blood of the innocent.” {Yeah, that sounds like St Anne’s, alright. REFRESHER – SHORT VERSION: Cami’s twin brother was cursed by a witch, killed everyone in the church one night.}

St Anne’s doors creak open. Klaus and Mikael enter. The candles are lit, the place is deserted. Klaus urges Dahlia to hurry it up, and calls her a crone. {Ok, just a side note. A “crone” in witch terminology isn’t really a slur. It simply means a woman who is past child-bearing age.} Mikael’s holding the knife, we see, and Dahlia appears at the altar. With a flick of both wrists, Dahlia summons not only the wind, but a pack of people that begin to file into the church behind Mikael and Klaus. Mikael’s bloodlust is perked up at the idea of a fight, and he asks Klaus if he’s ready. “I was born ready,” Klaus says, and Mikael lowers his fangs. The minions begin their attack and Klaus lowers his own. Dahlia stands at the front, and watches as Mikael and Klaus begin to tear through her minions. Then she moves a witch into play, who brings Klaus and Mikael to their knees with Witchy Headaches.

“I should have warned you,” Dahlia says, “my acolytes are rather formidable.” As Klaus and Mikael stand again, she tells them that she’s gifted each one of them with a “fraction” of her own power – and one of them throws Mikael across the room – Klaus charges and finds himself thrown almost into the belfry.

Jackson is pouring over a map, when Aiden comes in. Jackson tells him to shut the door behind him. Jackson praises Aiden for being loyal and brave and being his “right hand man” for so long and says that that’s why he’s the only one he can trust with what he’s about to say. He tells Aiden that he needs to get Hayley and Hope out of here, and tonight. Aiden warns Jackson that that’s not the best idea, to do so right under Klaus’s nose, and says that Klaus will kill him. Jackson agrees, saying that Klaus will kill him “for leaving dishes in the sink” so its another good reason to get the Hell out. Aiden says he’s not joking, Klaus will find out {maybe because you’re supposed to tell him, Aiden?} and Jackson says he’s already got a route mapped out and at the ready. Jackson says that between Dahlia’s “spying” and Klaus’s “ways” they need to get out of there fast. He wants Aiden to get a car and meet them at the service entrance at 8:45. Jackson stresses the 8:45, saying that Marcel is coming for them at 9:00, so timing is important. Aiden says that he’ll be there. Jackson admits that he doesn’t know how long he’ll be away, and that while he’s gone the wolves will need a leader, and asks if Aiden is up for it. Aiden does a sort-of non-committal nod.

Mikael struggles to his feet, as does Klaus. Klaus nods to his father, and the battle begins anew. Dahlia pushes more power into her acolytes as Klaus rips out someone’s throat. Mikael does the same, and Klaus leads a charge down the center, toward Dahlia.

Aiden is mulling things over, when Josh walks in. Josh says what he wants Aiden to say to him – that Aiden was a jerk and lied about getting a phone call from Klaus this morning and he’s sorry – before Aiden gets a word out. “I accidentally did your side of the conversation,” Josh says. Aiden looks upset and Josh admits that he heard everything – “vamp hearding, dude” – and says that he can’t turn it off and that he was nosy, especially considering that the person on the other end of the phone was the person that “killed me on my Spring Break.” Aiden says that he was trying to keep Josh out of it, and Josh wants to know what “it.” Aiden tells Josh not to worry about it, that he’s got it all taken care of, slaps Josh’s arm with a fake smile and turns to leave. Josh isn’t buying it. Aiden finally caves and tells Josh that Jackson has this escape plan tonight, and Aiden knows that if he doesn’t tell Klaus, “cut your head off with a dull butter knife,” Josh finishes. Aiden says that he doesn’t feel right stabbing Jackson in the back, since Jackson’s been looking out for him since they were kids. Josh says he doesn’t think Aiden has a choice. Aiden reminds Josh that Jackson is part of his pack, and that Josh doesn’t understand that. “You don’t have to be a Crescent Wolf to love your friends,” Josh counters. Josh tells Aiden not to worry, that they’ll figure this out. Aiden nods reluctantly.

Back at St Anne’s, the fight continues. All of the acolytes are down, it’s just Klaus, Mikael, and Dahlia now. She slow claps at their efforts, and congratulates them on their performance, calling it “operatic.” Mikael pulls the blade as she says that “all the heroes die” and attacks them with more Witchy Headache stuff. The knife shoots out of Mikael’s hand, and it seems Klaus is dessicating where he stands.

Klaus is tossed to the floor, and a dessicating Mikael struggles against Dahlia’s power. “Husband of my sister, you I would like to make suffer,” she says to Mikael. As she’s launching another attack on Mikael, Freya comes in behind her and yells ENOUGH! As Dahlia turns to Freya, Mikael manages to get ahold of the knife again. Dahlia tries to convince Freya that her family only want her for her power, but Freya says that Dahlia is the one that has used her a thousand years. When Dahlia attacks Freya with her magic, Mikael lunges with a broken piece of wood at Dahlia. He seems to stab her as they crash to the ground, and Elijah slips in and gives Klaus some of his blood to heal him. Dahlia throws Mikael off her, and pulls the wood scrap from her middle. Standing up, Dahlia asks the room if they haven’t realized that she’s too powerful to kill. Elijah charges her, and is thrown across the room for his trouble. Klaus gets the be-spelled knife and charges Dahlia, only to crash into the altar behind her as she disappears. When he stands, he realizes that the knife disappeared with her. He turns and looks at Elijah, worry clear on both of their faces.

Marcel and Josh come into the compound to pick up Jackson, Hayley, and Hope, but it seems to be empty. Marcel checks the crib, and finds it empty. He searches a few more rooms, and finds the balcony doors open. He asks Josh and two of his Merry Men if there’s any sign of them in the rest of the house. Josh shakes his head no. Marcel tells them to fan out and find them.

Near a neon sign for a club, Jackson, Hayley, and a fussy Hope are waiting in what appears to be an alley. Jackson is worried, thinks something must’ve happened to Aiden.

Aiden is sitting in a car, looking very uncomfortable and very worried. He looks at his cellphone for the time, it reads 8:52. He’s officially missed his 8:45 deadline to pick up his Alpha, Hayley, and baby Hope. He slams his phone into the steering wheel, clearly fighting his conscience.

Hope begins to cry in earnest, and Jackson covers her with another blanket as Hayley bounches and shushes her. Marcel startles them by coming up behind them and asking if everything’s ok. “Took you long enough,” Hayley snaps, but Marcel suspects something. She asks if they’re leaving, or what, and Marcel tells her that the St James club is the safest place in town, and they file past Marcel with Jackson and Marcel having a bit of a stare down.

Elijah, Klaus, Mikael, and Freya are picking themselves up from the floor and Dahlia reappears to tell them “we all have weaknesses. You came here united hoping to exploit mine,” and as she speaks her position around the church changes – first she’s at the altar, then behind them, “and in doing so, you lost the one thing that you could have used against me – the weapon you created, now rendered useless.” She drops the knife into what looks like a Holy Water urn, and it bursts into flame. Freya screams, “NO!” Dahlia says that she’s only there to collect what is owed to her – nothing more. “Give me the child, and you all may live,” she says, “deny me, and, well, you’ve had a taste of my power. I can’t imagine you hunger for more.” And POOF, she’s gone again. Elijah, Mikael, Freya, and Klaus look around them, looking somewhat defeated.

At Rousseau’s, Josh is sitting at the bar, and Aiden walks in saying that he told Jackson it was “traffic” that held him up. “Jacks was furious, but he bought it,” Aiden continues. {STOP TRYING TO GIVE HIM NICKNAMES!!} Aiden says that he thinks he’ll live another day. Josh asks him about tomorrow, and Aiden goes on about how stupid he was to listen to Klaus in the first place. “I should’ve run in the opposite direction,” he says. He apologizes to Josh for all of this. Josh says that he’s sorry, too, because if Klaus hurts Aiden, “I’m gonna have to seek vengeance psycho ninja style and I think we both know how that’s gonna go.” Josh tells Aiden that none of this was his fault, no more than it’s his own for getting his “neck snapped in some crappy dive bar. This is what Klaus does. Aiden, I’ve kinda been on my own my whole life and then suddenly, everything was different . . . because of you.” {AWWWWW} “You are my pack,” Josh says, “you and Marcel and Davina, and, yeah, I’d die for you because I don’t think I can go back to how it was before.” Aiden says that they’ll figure something out . . . together.

Klaus is drinking and NewBekah says that the whole situation sounded like a “bloody fiasco” and wonders where Dahlia is now. Elijah says that she could be anywhere. Mikael looks smug. Elijah says that there wasn’t a trace of her at the church, and Freya says that she’s done with them for the night, at least. She thinks that Dahlia wants them to take some time to “wallow in our defeat.” Klaus doesn’t think of it as a defeat, because they saw her, and were able to get an idea of her power. He says he was unimpressed with what he saw. Mikael says that she wasn’t trying to impress, she wanted them to do precisely what they did – reveal the sole weapon they had against her. And they did. NewBekah wonders aloud if “Nik just exchanged words with our father” and Mikael recognizes her from her “wicked tongue.” Mikael asks how she wound up in that body, “probably the bastard’s doing” and Klaus tells him to shut it (not really, but basically). Klaus says his patience is at an end, and Elijah argrees. Elijah wants to know, exactly, what they are doing. Freya says that this wasn’t her plan. She accuses them of rushing it and failing because they only made one weapon. She says that she’s not surprised Dahlia got it from them, and says that they’ve lost the only advantage they had because they used up all the materials they had to forge a weapon with. Klaus says that the materials needed “are easily found.” He says there’s an “ample supply” of Freya’s blood, “Norwegian soil is hardly scarce,” and when he gets to the “ashes of Dahlia’s Viking oppressors” he gets that smirk and that glint in his eye. Mikael says that those are “priceless relics gotten with great difficulty at a museum, lost due to your worthless strategies.”

Klaus reacts by slamming Mikael against the opposing wall, and forcing the White Oak Stake most of the way into his chest. He tells Freya if she should come to Mikael’s aid, he will “end him with the flick of my wrist.” Mikael’s unsurprise at Klaus’s actions is noted, and Mikael says that it is because “betrayal is in your nature, boy.” Klaus says that he wasn’t born like this, and points out that Mikael would fight for Freya, and reminds Mikael that there was a time when Mikael didn’t know that Klaus wasn’t his, “there were moments when all you had to do was be my father, and even then, you despised me, didn’t you? I want to know why,” Klaus says, with tears building in his eyes. Mikael whispers, “I don’t know. I just did.” Elijah, still holding Freya back, looks on, as does NewBekah. Klaus lets the tears fall, stiffens his jaw, and asks Mikael if those are his final words. Mikael looks beyond Klaus at Freya, says her name, apologizes, and manages to get most of “I love you” out before Klaus plunges the White Oak Stake home. Freya screams. Mikael reaches for her, but falls first and bursts into flame as Freya cries. “Viking ash is indeed rare . . . but all you really need is a burning Viking corpse,” Klaus says and then leaves the room. Freya lunges for him as he walks by, but Elijah holds her back yet again. Even NewBekah looks a little upset.

A violin plays a solemn tune in the Quarter, Josephine looking at the back of the long-haired woman playing it. {*whispers* That’s Dahlia.} Josephine compliments her technique, and Dahlia turns, asking if Josephine plays. Josephine laughs, and looks down at her gnarled hands and says that she hasn’t “not in some time.” Dahlia says that she can change that, and blows on Josephine’s hands. Josephine gasps, and laughs with joy and tears. “Dahlia, I assume,” she says. Dahlia bows to her, and then tells her that she needs to use her to “send a message to all those who would side against me.” Josephine nods, and guesses correctly that she can’t give anything to Dahlia to make her change her mind. “There’s nothing you can do for me that I cannot do for myself,” Dahlia replies. Josephine asks for a turn on the violin, and Dahlia gladly turns it over. Josephine begins to play, but before she’s played more than a handful of notes, Dahlia shushes her, and then slashes her throat with the bow.

The End.

Wow. I’m not entirely sure what message Dahlia was sending {I kid, I kid} there. But, really, what do you think will come of Aiden’s lie by omission to Klaus? Will Freya retaliate against Klaus for killing the Father she seemed to still love? And who will fall in the fight against Dahlia? {Cuz you know someone will.}
